The TDA commissioned a series of pilot resources to introduce a careers dimension into subject delivery. These practical careers related activities link with elements of the English, history and modern languages curricula.
Teachers can draw on these resources to highlight a careers dimension within subject delivery. The resources have initially focused on English, history and modern language subjects.
Engaging learners in career-related activities within subject delivery will encourage learners to explore potential career paths and raise awareness of issues such as gendered occupational stereotypes.
English
English careers resources will provide classroom activities to assist key stage three and four learners in:- exploring definitions of work and career
- selecting and presenting personal information
- experiencing formal interview requirements
- using class texts and the media to explore and research careers
- recognising stereotypes and attitudes to careers portrayed in the media.
